Hearing Disorders and cord blood

I have gotten many inquiries regarding using cord blood for hearing disorders . Till now I have had nothing to offer as far as treatment. Last month however the University of Texas announced they would be recruiting children from between the ages of 6 weeks to 18 month with evidence of moderate to profound sensorineural hearing loss for an autologous cord blood transplant.  The important part of this  experimental treatment is that you must have stored your baby' cord blood and have access to it.
To be included in this study the hearing loss must be acquired and not caused by a syndrome. This is typically categorized by the   loss of  active hair cells in th Organ of Corti. Pre - clinical data has supported that  stem cell infusion may repair mechanisms in the Organ of Corti hence restoring hair cells.  Here is the link to the  clinical trial which will take place  in Houston.
